Last Sunday, April 21, 2024, my pastor, Fr Billy Zondler, and the parishioners of Sacred Heart Parish of Ocean Beach scheduled a special Mass and Reception to celebrate the successful completion of my doctoral program, Doctor of Ministry in preaching from Aquinas Institute of Theology, St. Louis, Missouri. In addition to the pastor and parishioners of Sacred Heart, present at the celebration were some of my friends, staff from Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista where I work as a chaplain, parishioners of Our Lady of Mount Carmel San Ysidro, and Members of the African Catholic Community San Diego.
There were two choirs at the Mass: the 10:00 a.m. Choir at Sacred Heart, and the African Catholic Community Choir. The Kyrie and the Gloria were songs I composed as a seminarian in 2005/2006. They are both in Idoma, my first language. I hope you find some peace, joy, and inspiration as you watch the video.
